Specific: The goal is to teach the children to eliminate basic grammar mistakes from their speech and writing, to improve their problem-solving and mathematics skills in terms of word problems, multiplication tables, long division and absolute numbers in the sense that they can easily solve such problems and to improve their geographical knowledge by introducing them to the concept of capital cities and continents in the hopes that they know why capitals exist, major countries on each continent and why lines of latitude and longitude exist.
Measurable:To measure their progress, we give them various tests, quizzes and worksheets and provide incentives for them to work as hard as they can to demonstrate their full potential.
Achievable:This goal is quite achievable as there are a lot of us who go to teach there and the kids are very bright to begin with. We also have Mrs. Lantz to guide us so we are very comfortable.
Realistic:The goal is realistic as we are teaching the aforementioned skills to bright kids aged 15 and up. We are also being supervised by a woman with years of experience and there are enough of us to each have a reasonable group of kids to teach.
Timely: We expect our goal to be complete by the end of the academic year. This is more than enough time to teach these children this information as we have a large group and they are already very smart to begin with. But also, this is a good amount of time as it gives us some leniency in our schedules and allows us to spend more time on subjects that the students think they need to work on.
