Journal Entry 1
To start the project we must first select the right people to help. We did so by contacting the head of a poor area in our neighbor hood. We have already cooperated with them in previous projects outside of school. They were ready to help and immediately got back to us with a list of people that needed aid. After reviewing the list we made a final list and went out to check the homes of people. We assessed whom needed the most help and put them in a final list. This list would become the basis of our entire picture. In this process I learned a lot. First I had to make tuff decisions because I was selecting whose life I would possibly make better and who would not get help. Also when I met the families that need help I was changed. I met people who were barely alive and were in desperate need of aid. Telling these people that help was on the way, would have been the best thing to say but I couldn't. I couldn't raise their hopes and then not end up raising suffecient funds and leaving them. But now with a list of people and picture I was ready to start raising money.

Raising money is one of the biggest obstacles. Since the project needs alot of funding I am trying to talk to larger coorprations instead of idividuals. I have started and scheduled an appointment with vodafon and APG. I hope they are willing to donate enough money as alot of the money needs to start coming in so construction may start. Very little money has been raised so far but I am optimistic about the future. Once we raise funds they will go directly to the people who need the most help first. Then with money that continues to flow in we will work down the list to people who need help but not as much. This system will be the best to carry out the project. In this manner people will not only be helped but the most needing people will get help and later the others will too.

Today all the funds needed to complete the entire project from beggining to end. Vodafone was not willing to donate any money as they felt they had legal issues with donating the money to charity. After moving on from the meeting with Vodafone we proceeded to meet with the CEO of APG. They were very eager to help out as they are also an architectural company. We showed them the pictures of the homes and gave them all the details. Like us they felt these people really need help. They told us to comeback in a few days. When we went back a large amount of money was donated to our project. With the money we had already raised all the funds needed to start and finish the project were ready. It was great to have raised all the money for the project. Now with money present we will start projection at the earliest possible time.

Today all the houses were finished. The process of contsruction was long and tiring so its really good to be finished. We even bought stoves, and fridges for the people and installed them. They were beyond happy and couldnt stop thanking us for everything. Seeing the joy in their eyes was very rewarding. Alot has been accomplished during this project. Not only have I learned that it is not easy to get things done but it takes alot of time. Even when I got tired of doing the work, the joy I saw today made up for all the effort and time put in.
