IV. Updated Action Plan

Target problem: Leila, a 20-year-old girl, former patient of cancer, was in a devastating car accident with her boyfriend and a friend. The car flipped, her boyfriend passed away but she was hurt badly, particularly her hip and right leg. Leg and hip were shattered into 4 pieces. Had to undergo a large amount of surgeries but was still paralyzed and could not walk. She developed gangrene during her recovery due to severe infection. Had to be omitted to another major surgery in which they used a layer of skin of her chest to wrap around hip. Medicine and hospital bills were external image service%20learning%20logo.jpg
way too expensive – 300 LE for a dose of antibiotic (needed 2 doses each day)

Target group: Leila and her family especially
her mom named Berta (from Chile). Had to sell
everything (jewels, furniture, electronics) to
pay for some of the hospital bills à left with
nothing.

GOALS:

- To collect funds (as much as possible) to donate to Leila, to help even for the slightest of things. It is up to her and her family to decide what should be done what we give.

- To make sure Leila’s quality of life improves with constantly visiting her and helping her mom with anything she needs (cleaning around the house, cooking, etc.)

- Provide Leila with a supportive and upbeat environment to make sure she knows how admired she is for being so strong throughout this terrible journey

- To make people more aware of her situation so they contribute too. Also, it can serve to give people a lesson that in life sometimes things don’t always go your way but you must stay strong in order to carry on. It can make people appreciate life more and want to be better people

OBSTACLES:Since hospital bills are so expensive, the money we raise is going to be very limited and it is not obviously going to pay a lot, but it will still be enough to make a difference.

There is a lot of trouble referring to HOW we will raise the money but with bake sales, clean ups in the Maadi Catholic Family Church, sorting clothes for orphans, and after-mass help, we will raise enough money seeing as all these activities will involve a payment of money.

TASKS: Get permission for bake sales at school (supply ingredients, etc.), speak to people at Maadi Catholic Church for how we would help and the payment, speak to woman in charge of sorting clothes for orphans at the church, contact Maria T (main contact and direct source to Leila and Berta) to arrange visits and transfer the money.
